Winter 2027 Youth Session

Join Southern Maine Water Polo for six weeks of youth water polo.

What to Expect

Our youth program introduces young athletes to water polo through active, engaging practices that combine swimming, ball skills, and team play. The focus is on learning the fundamentals, building confidence in the water, making friends, and having fun.

Players will work on passing, catching, shooting, moving with the ball, and treading water using the eggbeater kick. Coaches will introduce basic rules, positioning, and teamwork through skill drills, games, and modified scrimmages.

A Typical Practice

Each one-hour practice will include a warmup, guided skill activities, and opportunities to put those skills into play. Activities will be adapted to players’ ages and experience so younger beginners can build a foundation while older or more experienced players take on new challenges.

The 10U, 12U, and 14U groups share the same pool and practice time, with coaching and activities tailored to the participants. No prior water polo experience is needed. If you are unsure whether the program is a good fit for your child’s swimming ability, contact Jake before registering.
